Support a Local Project that Matters

It's the giving season, and $5 from every Tacoma Rainiers hat sold thru Tuesday, December 3 will go toward Jason Lee Middle School's "Watts Up!" solar project through an initiative we're calling R Hat R City. This holiday season, help Jason Lee achieve their goal of putting 277 solar panels on the rooftop of the school in an effort to lower emissions and costs.

Three former Jason Lee Middle School students, Gwen Newport, Sammy Firkins and Annie Son, along with their junior high science teacher, Kathy Hall, are out raising nearly $200,000 to begin installation of the solar panels. The fundraiser is off to a strong start, but with your help, these women can get even closer to reaching their ambitious goal.

This team of scientists aims to make Jason Lee the first school in Pierce County to use solar energy for power. Ms. Hall and her students have raised over 25% of the $198,000 needed, but they need your help getting the rest of the way there.

You can support this innovative project by purchasing any Tacoma Rainiers hat in-store or thru the online Team Store thru Tuesday, December 3. For each hat sold, $5 will go toward making Jason Lee a trailblazer for sustainable energy among South Sound schools. $5 for every hat sold. No Limits. Direct donations to the project can be made at the link below.

This Is R City. Let’s rally together and support a project that truly matters to Tacoma.
