The Rainiers won the first three games of the six-game road series in Reno, but the dream of a six-game series sweep came to an end last night with an 8-3 loss. Still, Tacoma can win the series with a victory in either of the last two games – tonight at 6:35, or on Sunday at 1:05.
Tacoma won its last road series, at Sacramento two weeks ago when the club won four of six. That was the Rainiers first and only series win of the season to date.
The current Reno series is the first leg of a two-city road trip. Tacoma plays its first three-game series of the season in Salt Lake City starting on Tuesday. After that, the Rainiers are home for three games against Round Rock starting on Friday, June 10.
Dan Wilson remains with the Rainiers. The Mariners Hall of Famer has served as interim manager the past four games, going 3-1 so far filling in for skipper Tim Federowicz and bench coach Zach Vincej. Vincej is slated to return to the Rainiers tonight.
