Rainiers Split Aces, Homestand Continues Through Weekend

The Tacoma Rainiers split the make-up doubleheader against Reno last night, winning the first game 5-3 before dropping the second game, 3-1. Tacoma remains one game under .500 for the season.

With the completion of the doubleheader, Tacoma has now made up all of the early-season rainouts that have occurred thus far, and there are no more doubleheaders on the schedule. Hopefully we’re out of the woods, rain-wise, but it’s still pretty early in the season.

We know this: the forecast for the remainder of this homestand is terrific, and it’s a great time to come out to the ballpark. The Rainiers are home through the weekend, including a game tonight at 7:05.

Tonight the Rainiers start Nick Davila for his first game at Cheney Stadium. The young right-hander came up from Class-A Modesto to make a fill-in start during the last road trip at Salt Lake, and after some early jitters in his Triple-A debut he pitched admirably into the sixth inning, earning another chance. It’s fun to root for guys like this, hopefully he has another solid outing in store for us.
