As you may have heard, on Wednesday, March 11, Gov. Inslee indefinitely suspended all public events greater than 250 people in Pierce, King and Snohomish counties due to continued concerns regarding COVID-19. We will continue to update this page with the latest news as it pertains to Cheney Stadium events, Tacoma Rainiers and Tacoma Defiance games.
On Thursday, March 12, Minor League Baseball released a statement confirming that the start of the 2020 season will be delayed. We will keep you updated via this page, email and social media at @RainiersLand on Twitter, and Tacoma Rainiers on Facebook. On Wednesday, March 18, USL Championship suspended play through Sunday, May 10. I have tickets to early season Rainiers/Defiance games. Will I be charged for tickets to games that are cancelled or played behind closed doors?
No. Single-game ticket buyers will be able to exchange tickets in simple and transparent ways. If you prefer not to exchange your tickets for a later date, your purchase will be refunded. Season ticket holders will be contacted by their reps, and can be credited with additional vouchers for later dates. Season ticket holders can also be refunded for cancelled games if they prefer not to be credited.
Do I have to exchange my ticket on or before the day of a scheduled game that is cancelled or rescheduled?
No. Ticket exchanges will be honored at any time at the Cheney Stadium box office (hours of operation M – F 10am – 5pm). All exchanges are based on availability at the time of exchange.
Which games have been cancelled or will be rescheduled for a later date?
Minor League Baseball announced on Thursday, March 12 that the start of the 2020 season will be delayed. It is undetermined how the Tacoma Rainiers season will be affected, but we will update you in a timely manner as we learn more. On Thursday, March 12, the USL Championship announced a 30-day suspension of all games. Tacoma Defiance is working with the league to find flexibility in the Cheney Stadium schedule to reschedule all home games.
Is the Cheney Stadium Team Store open?
The Team Store is temporarily closed until further noticed, but online orders are still being fulfilled. We are currently offering free shipping on all online orders in Washington.
Have any non-game day events been cancelled?
We will be handling non-game day events on a case-by-case basis, but the March 21 Rainiers Preseason Party has been cancelled. Season ticket holders will be contacted by their reps to determine the best way to get fans their tickets.
